We have some exciting things rolling out this year….new blog posts, organization tips that cover all the bases, and some training classes. We would love to hear from YOU and what YOU would like us to talk about. I know this is the time of year when we look for healthier eating options. I recently watched a documentary on how our meat is processed in this country and it has motivated me to look for better alternatives.  Have you heard of farm shares? I want to share a link with you that my sister shared with me. This is great for all you meat eaters – www.phillycowshare.com. There are also similar sites for veggie lovers – www.farmtocity.org. If you are looking for something local in your area, just Google “farm shares” and the city you live in. Here’s to a Healthy New...

Organizing Artist Spaces

Posted on Aug 6, 2013

I recently helped one of my clients, Sondra, organize her art studio in her home. She does beautiful work both creating and restoring jewelry. As you can imagine, most of her supplies are tiny pieces that are difficult to keep organized. I started by helping her create a new system for displaying and storing these tiny pieces so that she can quickly identify them while she’s working. We had a great time working together! While we were organizing, I noticed these beautiful dia de los muertos earrings and commented how much I liked them. Sondra was gracious enough to give them to me and I wanted to share them with you. The beads are from Oaxaca, Mexico, the leaves are made of glass and the wires are sterling. Check out her amazing work on Etsy! The photo shows her contemporary work at www.SondraBerk.etsy.com, she will be adding more items soon! Her vintage pieces can be found on www.GlamEras.etsy.com. If you like her work and this post, feel free to share it using the buttons...

Kitchen Organizing 101

Posted on Jun 18, 2012

I don’t know about you, but the kitchen is the last place I want to organize.  After cooking and cleaning, I want to run out of there!  Here are some quick and easy ideas that you can gradually introduce into your kitchen space. Add a Lazy Susan Keep your cookbooks out where you can see them Install a retractable book holder under your cabinet – great thing to keep your cookbooks clean and out of your way Think about installing additional lighting under your cabinets. IKEA has cheap and easy install track lighting. Gain space by hanging items such as potholders, spices, pots and pans Arrange drawers and cabinets by use – I have my dishes and glassware on the 1st and 2nd shelves of cabinets close to the dishwasher and sink. Use a large utensil holder for all cooking utensils and keep near your stove Keep your plastic containers contained.  Match lids to their containers and recycle the odd balls. Lid storage – one of the greater storage inventions. The Container Store has wonderful pull out storage for all your pots and pans lids. Swap out old storage containers for clear containers.  I have clear glass and plastic containers that I store rice, sugar, flour, dog treats, etc.  It is very helpful...

Give & Get

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Today is a day to spend time with family and those you love.  It is also a time to give back.  You can give monetary donations as well as a helping hand.  There are so many opportunities out there.  My husband and I found out our Boston Terrier rescue has been inundated with dogs and decided to volunteer our time and home to these rescues. Tomorrow is the infamous shop till you drop Black Friday!  There are so many great deals if you can handle the craziness that goes with it.  It’s a great time to cross a few items off your holiday list.  I like to create my list when family is present so that I can bounce ideas off of them.  If you are headed out for early shopping, enjoy your turkey and get some rest!  Gobble...

The Holiday Countdown Begins!

Posted on Oct 30, 2011

Halloween is tomorrow which means the holidays are right around the corner.  4 weeks until Thanksgiving and 8 short weeks until Christmas! Do you have your Christmas list ready?  It may be a good idea to start early and pick up gifts here and there.  You will save time and money planning early!  Here is my checklist: Create a gift list separate from a holiday card list Ask your family and friends to create a wishlist online, most retailers have them.  Amazon has one as well, check it out http://www.amazon.com/wishlist/ref=topnav_lists Comparison shop online for those items on your list.  Buy them early! Buy your Christmas cards and send them out about a week after Thanksgiving If you are hosting either of the holidays, your list may be slightly longer than mine Plan your meals and stock up on the nonperishables now.  I was just at Target and they are having great sales on Thanksgiving fixings.  If you are a Trader Joe’s fan, try their delicious pumpkin bread mix. Get a final guest count and make sure you have enough table space, chairs, and settings. Plan now so that you can enjoy the holidays and avoid the...
